Dr. Radha Gobinda Kar ek Indian Bengali physician aur philanthropist the. Unka janam 23 August 1852 ko Howrah district mein hua tha. Unke pitaji Durgadas Kar bhi ek physician hi the. Dr. Kar ne Calcutta Medical College se medicine padha aur baad mein 1883 mein University of Edinburgh se L.R.C.P. aur L.M. ki degrees li thi.
Yeh ek visionary insaan the, jinhe laga ki British colonial government ke control mein chalney waley existing medical schools mein limitations hain. Toh is issue ko address karne ke liye, unhone 1886 mein Calcutta School of Medicine kholi, jo baad mein RG Kar Medical College and Hospital ban gayi.
Dr. Kar ne is institution ki shuruaat mein bahut bada role play kiya aur iske growth aur development mein unka haath tha. Voh 68 saal ki umar mein 19 December 1918 ko duniya se vidaa ho gaye.
